It’s been over a year since the popular Casino Niagara in Ontario has been closed. What is more, there is no reopening date to be determined.
Casino Niagara Closing
Casino Niagara, a center of fun and gambling, has been closed to the public for a year due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Casino Niagara is 95,000 square feet of gaming and winnings for Canadian visitors, who are fond of playing slot machines and table games. Every year the casino welcomed thousands of visitors, attracting them with top entertaining activities and the location near the Niagara Falls. However, after the pandemic, almost all public places of the province were closed to visitors.
During the closing, the Niagara casino has been working with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG), the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), Niagara Region Public Health and emergency services to develop a plan for an early return. Together, they analyzed the necessary recommendations from public health authorities, as compliance with the COVID protocols is one of the basic requirements for the Ontario casinos reopening.
Easing of Restrictions in Ontario
At the beginning of the year, the restrictions were eased and the provincial government announced the lifting of some social distancing measures. They allowed some businesses to re-open.
After these easings selective Canadian casinos got back to business, following safety protocols and allowing a maximum of 50 visitors inside the casino buildings. It means that people will have to make reservations to visit the gaming floor.
Today, re-opened houses only offer slot machines. According to safety measures, visitors cannot play table games, enjoy dining at the casino, and much more. And to legally be the guest of the casino, you had to be from not a locked down region.
Why Does Casino Niagara Remain Closed?
Nevertheless, the Niagara casino is still unable to open, due to too strict limits. “It is very difficult to keep such a big business running when only 50 people are allowed in the casino,” said Richard Taylor, president of Niagara Casinos.
Like many other still closed casinos, the Niagara Casino decided to use this time with good advantage and make some updates to the casino. In addition to “safe” renewals such as hand sanitizers and wipe stations at the house, Niagara Casino introduced its new bonus system. It will be an amazing alternative to the Player’s Advantage Club (PAC) program.
Waiting For Reopening
Casino Niagara has not announced its reopening date yet, as they are working on taking measures to ensure a healthy and safe reopen. But the Casino is looking forward to being open to Canadian gamblers. And while you are waiting, take advantage of a safe alternative – online casinos, where you can play popular table games with live dealers.
