The eighth of January became a lucky day for a usual guy from Arizona. A visiting player from Midtown, Robert Taylor, scored a slots jackpot at Las Vegas’ Treasure Island, yet neither him nor the casino knew about it due to the machine’s error.

The winnings of $229,000 were on the lookout for the owner for nearly three weeks. It took some time for gaming board agents to track the guy who had won the bonanza at Treasure Island casino down and enrich him.

According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the experienced malfunction in the work of the slot machine was caused by a communications error. It prohibited Robert and the casino from realizing that Mr. Taylor had won a progressive jackpot. But an extensive review of the communications technology and the slot machine took a while to find out that Robert became a lucky winner too late – he had already reached his home in Arizona.

At the same time, when the winning was confirmed the casino started gunning for the gainer but, alas, ineffectively. Within this context, the Nevada Gaming Control Board initiated a large-scale investigation to obtain the identity of the patron. The inquiry was conducted by multiple agents of the Board’s Enforcement Division.

While investigating, a lot of time was devoted to the study of multiple hours of surveillance footage across an ample quantity of gaming properties. Also, the agents reviewed numerous witness interviews, studied the history of the electronic purchase records and analyzed rideshare data kindly procured by a rideshare company and the Nevada Transportation Authority. As we already know, the exhaustive investigation results were crowned with success, and the patron was identified as Robert Taylor.

In his statement, James Taylor, Chief of the Board’s Enforcement Division, mentioned that the Nevada Gaming Control Board is charged with powers and authority for the strict regulation of the gaming industry in the state. It also implies ensuring that the industry benefits the State of Nevada and providing the protection of the gaming public. He also made an acknowledgment to the agents of the Enforcement Division, particularly Agent Dan Nuqui, for the weeks of fruitful work and for ensuring that the public trust in the gaming industry remains strong. He also thanked the Nevada Transportation Authority for the assistance in confirming the identity of Robert Taylor.

The lucky casino patron from Arizona was notified on 28 January. It was nearly three weeks after he had won a progressive jackpot. According to gaming officials, Robert Taylor will return to Las Vegas to collect his $229,368.52.
