At Game Con Canada, attendees will have access to play hundreds of games from video game studios and board game developers from around the world.

No matter which aspect of gaming interests you, you will find it at the upcoming first-ever Game Con Canada in Calgary, taking place from June 23 to 25 at the BMO Centre, covering an area of 250,000 square feet.

Chris Meilleur from Alberta-based Meibel Consulting shared that the organizers had been working on this event for two years. They expected tens of thousands of visitors over the three days, making it the largest gaming expo in western Canada.

Meilleur mentioned that during COVID, they had been sitting around and had their own video game company where they were trying to launch a game. He stated that they had become tired of having to travel to San Francisco, Seattle, Germany, and Australia for those big gaming conventions. He further added that it had occurred to them that since they had an events company, they should explore the possibility of organizing something in Canada. Meilleur said that they had convinced big players like Telus, Rogers, Catalyst Game Labs, and Warhammer that Canada was worth the trip and that the fans were worth the investment.

The convention would feature, among other things, Canada’s largest cosplay competition and a 118-foot long Esports mega-stage with a 24-foot tall, 4K LED screen for consumers to play games on. The mega-stage would also host post-secondary pro Esports teams competing in the game Valorant. Additionally, there would be a 4,000 square foot laser tag arena based on Warhammer, a tabletop medieval war game.

The expo was expecting attendees from as far as the United Kingdom and many from the U.S.
