Microsoft made an exciting announcement about the upcoming release of a black version of the Xbox Series S during the recent Xbox Games Showcase. This new variant will feature 1TB of built-in storage, providing gamers with more space to store their favourite games and media. Apart from the sleek black paint job and increased storage capacity, the Xbox Series S remains mostly unchanged from its original version. The launch of the 1TB black Xbox Series S is scheduled for September 1st, with a price tag of $349. Interested buyers can start placing their pre-orders today.

At the Xbox Games Showcase, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, took to the stage to reveal the carbon black Xbox Series S. In addition to this exciting news, Spencer also mentioned that Microsoft has taken steps to meet the high demand for the Xbox Series X by increasing its shipments.

The original Xbox Series S was initially available for $299 and offered only 512GB of storage. The upgrade to 1TB in the black variant is certainly a welcome improvement. Coincidentally, Western Digital recently unveiled its own Xbox storage expansion cards, featuring 512GB and 1TB options, which serve as much-needed accessories for Xbox Series S owners. The starting price for Western Digital’s storage expansion cards is $79.99 for 512GB of additional storage.

With the black Xbox Series S priced at $349, buyers will be paying an extra $50 for the 512GB of additional storage compared to the original model. Microsoft has ensured that this new variant will be available on September 1st, just in time for the highly anticipated fall releases of Starfield and Forza Motorsport. Gamers can look forward to an enhanced gaming experience with the black Xbox Series S and its ample storage capacity.
