Premier gaming and betting event of the Great White North, Canadian Gaming Summit, Unveils Finalists for the First Pitch Startup Competition.
SBC has announced the top three finalists for the inaugural Canadian Gaming Summit First Pitch competition, showcasing the innovation and potential of start-ups in the sports betting and iGaming industry. These contenders have risen from a pool of talented individuals, embodying the vision to reshape the landscape with their forward-thinking solutions.
The First Pitch competition, which has garnered immense acclaim at the SBC Summit North America in New Jersey and the prestigious SBC Summit Barcelona, will now be a significant part of the Growth and Leadership track during the Canadian Gaming Summit on June 15th.
The SBC Summit North America First Pitch finalists are as follows:
- Flex Fantasy: This platform allows users to synchronize their season-long fantasy lineups and compete for real-money rewards against individuals across different platforms and game formats.
- Turnover Global: Generating virtual sports betting content through accurate sports simulations, this company ensures that each bet line maintains the required Return to Player (RTP) percentage as mandated by compliance labs.
- Linemate: With a focus on revolutionizing research insights for novice sports bettors, Linemate aims to become a lifestyle brand that helps users overcome obstacles and embrace new behavioural patterns.
These selected companies will have the opportunity to present their innovative products to industry leaders and investors. They will also compete for an exclusive prize package valued at over CA$ 35,000, specifically designed to support their future development and growth endeavours. The prize package includes:
- A CA$3,700 exclusive brand or web design package from Vegas Kings, a trusted iGaming design and development agency known for their work with leading brands like Ladbrokes, Betfred, Spinomenal, and BetConstruct.
- A comprehensive promotional package from SBC Media, consisting of six months of advertising on either SBC Americas or Canadian Gaming Business, newsletter advertising, and two featured editorials promoting the winning business (valued at CA$16,000).
- Two press releases to be distributed throughout 2023, sharing news and product updates with the iGaming B2B media and the US via Business Wire, ensuring coverage on platforms like Bloomberg and Yahoo! Finance. The winner will also receive a video interview produced and shared by GameOn, as well as two additional thought leadership articles placed within an SBC media partner (valued at £2,950.00 or CA$4,900).

The competition will be moderated by Jesse Learmonth, host of the Betting Startups Podcast, and judged by industry experts including Benjie Cherniak (Principal at Avenue H Capital, LLC), Dani Lipkin (Managing Director of Global Innovation Sector TMX Group), Scott Secord (Partner, Cardinal Capital Sports), Emily McIlquham (Investment Analyst, Relay Ventures), and Mohit Kansal (Managing Director, Clarivest). Together, they will decide the winner after all finalists present their products.
