Collectively, the series has surpassed a remarkable milestone of 75 million copies sold, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone has sold over 50 million copies.

The dominance of The Witcher on the market is undeniable, and fresh data from CD Projekt Red (CDPR), the game developer behind The Witcher, sheds light on its staggering magnitude. In a recent announcement, the studio disclosed that the sales of The Witcher video game series surpassed a remarkable 75 million copies, with a significant portion of over 50 million copies belonging to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone.

These figures firmly establish The Witcher series as one of the greatest video game franchises in history. The Witcher 3’s sales figures come close to heavyweight hits such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Red Dead Redemption 2, both of which have exceeded 53 million copies sold and are considered among the best-selling games of all time.

Anticipated growth lies ahead for The Witcher’s sales numbers. CDPR recently unveiled a next-generation update for The Witcher 3 in December and has several other Witcher games in the pipeline. These include a remake of the inaugural Witcher game, a new Witcher trilogy, and a project tentatively named “Project Sirius” (although CDPR has recently announced a reevaluation of this game).

Even Netflix, recognizing the immense potential of The Witcher franchise, has placed a substantial bet on it. Even before the third season hits the streaming platform, the company has already renewed its Witcher TV series for a fifth season. However, the third season will mark Henry Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt, with Liam Hemsworth taking on the lead role starting from the fourth season.
